What an amazing day

Amazing, just amazing...I started the day 7:30am at Sproul Plaza, joining with many other Cal staff, faculty, and students to watch the inauguration ceremony. The Straw Hat band kicked it off with the National Anthem...

The view we had of the jumbotron was amazing. Mad props to Nancy F. for a) getting a great spot, and b) being easily recognizable when we were wandering the crowd for a place to stand. The Peet's Coffee, Noah's Bagels, homemade pastries, and fresh fruit made for a great breakfast with great company. Oh, and the kleenex we all brought with us was very much needed....

To be able to watch Barack Obama take the oath of office, along with many staff, students, and faculty who all helped to get him there, was incredible. To celebrate the end of the eight years of Bush, amazing. To see the hope in the eyes of my colleagues and students, fantastic.

And now, the future of the country is up to all of us. Yes we can, yes we did, and now yes we will.
