December 24th....arriving in Paris....

The thing about travelling is that it takes a while to get where you are going. We left San Francisco on December 23rd in the morning, and after a brief stop in Chicago, arrived in Paris the morning of December 24th. After clearing customs, getting our bags, and hoping on the metro, we checked in to our hotel around 11:30 and decided to go wander. Our plans were unknown, other than dinner plans with my good friends Rob & Janet at 6pm.

So off we went to the Louvre, walking through the Tuileries to the Champs-Elysees, and ultimately to the Arc de Triomphe where we would meet up for dinner. Sounds like a good plan, yes? It would've worked very well, but for a couple problems....

a) Everything in Paris closes on Christmas Eve by 2pm, and b) we were tired. Very tired.

By about 3pm, when it was clear that there was nothing open and no where to go to keep us awake and caffeinated, we headed back to the hotel to "rest". Note: rest = sleep. We were out cold before 6pm even hit, and were more or less out until 10 the next morning....we probably needed the sleep, though I'm bummed that I missed dinner with Rob & Janet, but it did make adjusting that much easier.... :)
