We then went over to Leicester Square, home of the Theatre District, to see about getting tickets to one of the performances. We had looked at the theatre guide in our hotel the night before, and found that Lion King and Mary Poppins both had matinees, so we went in pursuit of tickets to one of them. A short time later, we walked off with tickets to Mary Poppins in hand and a few hours to kill before the curtain time.
Trafalger Square is just south of Leicester Square, and we discovered a minor problem when we tried taking pictures there -- in the sky, there was this strange yellow ball that was causing shadows to appear! The sun! For the first time in days!! It was a challenge, but one we would gladly accept, since it was 20 degrees warmer in London than it had been in Paris. 
Next we went off to the National Gallery. Well, to be precise, we went to the National Gallery Gift Shop. It's a nice gift shop, and I got my now favorite pen there, but we didn't go into the museum at all. We continued on, walking down to Big Ben and Parliment, down near the back of Westminster Abbey, and eventually over to Buckingham Palace right at the Changing of the Guard time. 
Now, a word of warning: If you want to actually SEE Buckingham Palace, don't go between 11-12. The Changing of the Guard is at 11:30 each day, and huge crowds gather to watch the process. We got some lovely pictures of people's heads, and then decided to return later in the week when there would be fewer people.
We headed back towards Leicester Square in pursuit of lunch, and stumbled upon a restaurant we spotted in one of our hotel's flyers called "Med Kitchen". It looked good, so we went in to try it, and it was excellent. After filling up there, we headed over to the Prince Edward Theatre for our 2:30 showtime.
